Wood Wharf was a 10 month design and build combi-wall cofferdam split into 3 cells to allow a phased handover to the client. The cofferdam design features 160 tubular piles 1220mm in diameter socketed 10m into the dock bed. The tubular piles are up to 21m long and each pile is cased, drilled then installed into place below the water.

About This Project

As part of Canary Wharf’s 10 year redevelopment of Wood Wharf, CMP have completed in reclaiming 9000 sqm of land from West India Dock South. Working directly for the client this important contract strategically drives the commencement for the first of 35 new high rise towers providing a new residential led, mixed use, waterside community which will feature over 3500 homes, shops and office space.

Works Description
  • CMP’s 10 month contract was a design and build combi-wall cofferdam split into 3 cells to allow a phased handover to the client.
  • The cofferdam design features 160 tubular piles 1220mm in diameter socketed 10m into the dock bed.
  • The tubular piles are up to 21m long and each pile is cased, drilled then installed into place below the water.
  • In between the tubular piles sheet piles are installed to create a watertight retaining structure for the 10m head of water being held back.
